About Me
Aviva Paley is a passionate entrepreneur with professional experience in marrying a social mission with proven business driven strategies. In 2014 Aviva joined with her business partner Chuck Samuelson to launch Kitchens for Good. Kitchens for Good is a social enterprise that works to develop community kitchens that provide culinary job training for the unemployed, while simultaneously transforming cosmetically imperfect produce into nutritious meals for the hungry. In addition to tackling issues of food waste, hunger and unemployment, Kitchens for Good operates a profitable food and catering enterprise that creates livable wage jobs for culinary graduates, and generates significant profits to reinvest into social programs.
Aviva has been selected for several prestigious awards and fellowships including Food Tanks list of 20 Food Leaders Under 40, The UC Global Food Iniative’s 30 under 30 Food Leaders Award, The ROI Fellowship, Forbes 30 under 30 and the Arianne de Rothschild Fellowship.
Business Portfolio
Kitchens for Good rescues surplus food from wholesalers and farmers and, though a culinary apprenticeship program, offers a pathway out of poverty for individuals transitioning out of incarceration, homelessness and foster care. Since 2014, it has rescued about 101,000 pounds of food and has 175 graduates from its program–86% of which are employed.
